Alchemia Limited is a biotechnology company developing human therapeutics based on its drug discovery and synthesis technologies. The Company has a carbohydrate platform technology focused on the development of a generic synthetic heparin, and discovering a pipeline of oncology, eye disease, antibiotic and pain treatment therapeutics. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006 (fiscal 2006), Alchemia completed the pilot-scale manufacture of synthetic heparin at Dow Chemical Company in the United States. Arixtra received approval for prevention of venous thromboembolic events (VTE) in patients undergoing abdominal surgery, in the European Union. On May 29, 2006, the Company acquired Meditech Research Limited, a company focused on the discovery and development of new therapeutics in the field of oncology. Meditech Research Limited provided Alchemia with its HyCAMP cancer program and its HyACT drug delivery technology.
