AGL Energy Ltd. is an integrated energy company. Its principal activities include the sale of gas and electricity; the ownership and operation of natural gas and electricity distribution networks, and operation of natural gas transmission pipelines; power generation and energy processing infrastructure; exploration, extraction, production and sale of coal seam methane gas; extraction and sale of liquid petroleum gas, and realization of property and property-related assets. In January 2007, the Company acquired Queensland Government's Sun Gas retail business, which includes approximately 70,800 residential and industrial and commercial customers. In March 2007, it completed the acquisition of Powerdirect Australia from the Queensland Government. Powerdirect delivers the Comoany with an additional 473,000 residential, small-to-medium enterprise, and industrial and commercial accounts. In March 2007, the Company completed the acquisition of a 27.5% interest in Queensland Gas Company.
