Australian Pharmaceutical Industries Limited is engaged in the distribution of pharmaceutical and healthcare products in Australia and New Zealand. It operates in four segments: pharmacy distribution, healthcare distribution, retailing and manufacturing. Pharmacy distribution is engaged in the distribution of pharmaceutical and medical products, provision of retail and loan and leases to pharmacy customers. Healthcare distribution is engaged in the distribution of dental and allied products to dental practices, and distribution of medical and pharmaceutical products to hospitals and doctors. Retailing is engaged in the purchase and sale of health, beauty and lifestyle products in Australia. Through manufacturing segment, it is the owner of pharmaceutical medicines and consumer toiletries manufactured by related parties. In May 2005, it discontinued the healthcare distribution segment and in November 2005, the Company sold the New Zealand pharmacy distribution and logistics business.
