Beach Petroleum Limited is engaged in oil and gas exploration, development and production, and investment in the resources industry. The Company's projects include Basker-Manta-Gummy (BMG) project and Tipton West Coal Seam Gas project. Beach Petroleum Limited's exploration activities consist of Cooper and Eromanga Basins, Gippsland Basin, Surat Basin, Otway Basin, Browse Basin, Carnarvon Basin, and Canterbury Basin. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006, Beach Petroleum Limited participated in drilling 19 exploration and appraisal oil and gas wells and 20 coal seam gas wells. The Company's drilling program comprised 64 wells in the Cooper/Eromanga, five wells variously in the Surat, Otway, Carnarvon, Gippsland and Canterbury (NZ) basins, and a further 55 coal seam gas wells in the Tipton West project in Queensland. In the Cooper/Eromanga region, three new oil fields and two new gas fields were discovered in south Australia.
