Murchison Metals Ltd is engaged in mineral exploration and project development. The Company is the owner of the Jack Hills iron ore deposit located in the Midwest region of Western Australia. Jack Hills has a high-grade iron ore resource suitable for open pit mining. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006 (fiscal 2006), Murchison Metals continued the development and construction of the Stage 1 Jack Hills iron ore project. The Company also progressed exploration and detailed feasibility study activities into its Stage 2 Project in fiscal 2006. In March 2006, the exploration program recommenced at Mt Hale and other project areas. Murchison Metals completed an alliance with POSCO Australia Pty Ltd (POSCO) in October 2005. POSCO is a wholly owned subsidiary of POSCO Limited of South Korea. In addition to the Jack Hills Project, the Company also has another prospective iron ore holding at Weld Range, south of Jack Hills.
