New Hope Corporation Limited is engaged in mining and sale of coal, investment in bulk material coal handling operations, and exploration and land management activities. During the fiscal year ended July 31, 2006 (fiscal 2006), the Company's coal export volumes comprised 2.463 million tons while domestic sales were 1.311 million tons. In fiscal 2006, the Company's main production source was the New Acland Mine, which produced 2.64 million tons. The New Acland Mine is located 16 kilometers north west of Oakey on the Darling Downs. During fiscal 2006, the Jeebropilly and New Oakleigh Mines located in the Ipswich region of South East Queensland produced 1.051 million tons of coal. It has exploration efforts in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland and the Clarence-Moreton Basin. It owns three drill rigs, which it operates and has three contractor drilling rigs operating in these coal basins. During fiscal 2006, it sold its interest in the Reorganic Energy Swanbank joint venture operation.
