Pyrometallurgy

A step in Mineral Processing. Pyrometallurgy involves the reduction of Mineral Ore to metal by furnace with a reducing agent (usually coke). As the waste material melts at higher temperatures than the metals, it is necessary to add fluxes, which combine with the waste a slag. This slag is then run off or allowed to let the metal settle through it.
