Queensland Gas Company Limited (QGC) is a coal seam gas producer. It has developed the Berwyndale South Gasfield that is supplying gas at a rate of nine petajoules per annum under two long-term contracts. The Berwyndale South wells are producing at rates averaging over 1.1 million cubic feet per day. QGC is developing the gas-fired Condamine Power Station to be located in conjunction with the Berwyndale South Gasfield. The Berwyndale South Gasfield was commissioned within nine months of the start of construction. This involved drilling 24 development wells, installing a 40-kilometer underground gas and water gathering system and constructing gas compression and processing facilities. A 14-kilometer export pipeline linking the field to the Roma to Brisbane Gas Pipeline was completed. It holds majority equity interests in approximately 7,200 square kilometers of permits in the Surat Basin of Southern Queensland. In March 2007, AGL Energy Ltd. acquired a 27.5% interest in QGC.
