Woodside Petroleum Ltd. is the parent company of the Woodside group of companies. Woodside is Australia’s largest publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company. It is involved in exploration, development and production of oil and gas products from Australia, Africa and United States and markets it to the major customer centers in Japan, Korea, China, Singapore and worldwide.
Woodland has produced about 68 million barrels of oil in 2006.

Company has Australia’s first and largest liquefied gas plant in North West Shelf which is the company’s major business center. It has a market capitalization of more than A $34 billion. Company has almost 3000 staff and is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange under the ticker of WPL.

The company was started in 1954 by Geoff Donaldson and Rees Withers. It was incorporated as Woodside (Lakes Entrance) Oil Co NL. Company took its name from the small town of Woodside in Australia's southern-most mainland state, Victoria. Today company has operations in four continents.

The Company’s main focus on delivery speed, commercial acumen, cost, technical capability and values. Woodside’s strategy is based on delivering shareholder returns, profitable growth of business, paying dividends and balancing growth in key regions.

In 2006 Woodside shows a sustained growth phase and achieved goals for production, reserves replacement, revenues, cash flow and earnings. Record sales volumes and higher commodity prices contributed to an excellent profit performance of the company. This year record production was achieved via strong NWS performance. In 2006 company’s Net Profit after Tax is $1427 million, higher than last year. The Company’s total sales revenue is $3810 million.
