Company Overview
Zinifex Limited is engaged in minerals exploration, production, smelting and refining to produce zinc and lead concentrates, and zinc, lead and silver metals together with various alloys and byproducts. The Company also markets these products. Zinifex operates in seven segments: Century Mine, which is an open cut zinc and lead mine; Rosebery Mine, which is a medium-scale underground zinc, lead, silver, gold and copper mine; Hobart Refinery, which is a large-scale electrolytic zinc refinery located on the Derwent River in Hobart; Port Pirie Smelter, which is a primary lead smelting facility and a global silver producer; Australian Refined Alloys, which is a 50%-owned acid battery and lead recycling business; Budel Refinery, which is a large-scale electrolytic zinc refinery producing zinc and zinc alloys for the European market, and Clarksville Refinery. In June 2007, its subsidiary, Zinifex Canadian Enterprises Inc., completed the compulsory acquisition of Wolfden Resources Inc.
